Itinerary
Day 1 – Asheville, NC
Arrive today in the beautiful city of Asheville, NC. Check into your hotel for a two-night stay. Dinner is on your own this evening.
Day 2 – Biltmore House Christmas Daylight Tour w/ audio set – Antler Hill Village – Biltmore Winery – Candlelight Christmas Dinner – Biltmore Estate Candlelight Tour
This morning, enjoy daytime touring of the Biltmore Estate with an audio tour of the Biltmore House, America’s largest home. This 250 room French Chateau is a real wonder. To visit Biltmore House, America’s largest privately-owned home, is to cross the threshold into a world of beauty virtually unchanged for more than a century. Savor a self-guided visit to Biltmore House exploring grand spaces filled with masterpieces of art and stunning antiques, into private family quarters, indoor pool and bowling alley, and kitchens and servants’ areas. Biltmore Christmas decorations seen by daylight give you a whole different view.
You may also, explore the acres of beautiful gardens and grounds, designed by renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed New York’s Central Park.
Then you will also have time to browse Antler Hill Village. Step into the everyday lives of families who lived on the estate raising livestock, tending crops, and working at Biltmore Dairy in the 1890s. The Barn in Antler Hill Village – once the social and work center for these families – is alive again with blacksmiths, woodworkers, and other craft demonstrations. The Barn Door featuring a unique selection of American made arts and crafts items; and a Smokehouse offering Carolina barbecue, quick sandwiches, and other Southern favorites. While there, visit the Legacy Museum. Lunch is on your own.
This afternoon, enjoy a tour of the winery. At the Biltmore Winery you delight in free wine tastings and a redesigned self-guided tour to learn how they make award-winning wines.
Your group will enjoy the Biltmore Christmas dinner at Deerpark Restaurant or The Stables Cafe.
This evening, enjoy a Candlelight Tour of the Biltmore Estate. Firelight and candlelight fill Biltmore House with a warm glow and accent delicate ornaments and priceless treasures. Get into the holiday spirit with choirs singing European carols, vintage ballroom dancers, and dramatic Christmas readings. The Front Lawn of Biltmore House sets the scene with a sparkling holiday illumination of evergreens bathed in thousands of twinkling lights.
The Biltmore captures the magic of the holidays with grandeur, style and sheer wonder with more than 40 trees decorated by their talented staff, plus miles of ribbon and garland. Candlelight, firelight, dramatic outdoor illuminations, live music and entertainment accent the extravagant holiday decor of Biltmore House, creating an evening to remember. (B,D)
