Itinerary
Your trip begins early this morning when you board a Starr Tours Motorcoach and depart for St Michaels, MD. First stop today is a tour of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. The Museum’s 18-acre waterfront campus, includes Navy Point, was once was the site of a busy complex of seafood packing houses, docks, and work boats. Today, it is the site of the nation’s most complete collection of Chesapeake Bay artifacts, visual arts, and indigenous water craft. It is also home to the historic Hooper Strait Lighthouse.
In this 90-minute tour, your guide will describe the incredible history, heritage and culture of the Chesapeake Bay through CBMM’s interactive exhibits and priceless collections. Explore a working boatyard, scale the winding stairs to a birds-eye view of St. Michaels from the 1879 Hooper Strait Lighthouse and witness the legacy of the Chesapeake’s oyster and crab industries.
Lunch is included today at The Crab Claw Restaurant. Indulge in the seafood bounty of the Chesapeake Bay at this famous restaurant overlooking St. Michaels Harbor. The Crab Claw’s scrumptious traditional Eastern Shore menu offers you a full-course lunch that will satisfy the heartiest of appetites.
Enjoy a relaxing hour-long cruise on the Patriot, a 149-passenger cruise ship guided with a historic narration of St. Michaels and its surrounding area. Cruises run along the Miles River, where the expansive natural surroundings of the Eastern Shore can be enjoyed from the air-conditioned main deck or the open-air top deck.
