Itinerary
Day 1 – Fri, Apr 29 – Newport News, VA – Mariners Museum
Arrive today in Norfolk, VA for an afternoon Tram Ride among the spring blossoms at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. Then check-in to your oceanfront Virginia Beach Hotel for a free evening for dinner overlooking the boardwalk and a chance to explore the shops near the surf.
Day 2 – Sat, April 30 – Norfolk Naval Base Tour – NATO Flag Raising – Hullabaloo – Virginia International Tattoo
After a hotel breakfast your group will tour Nauticus, The National Maritime Center. It’s an exciting science and technology center exploring the power of the sea. A high-tech, virtual-reality museum that lets you explore the rich life of the ocean realm as well as human uses of the sea through shipping and the role that the port of Norfolk and Hampton Roads has played in this world’s maritime affairs.
You also visit the Battleship USS Wisconsin, one of the largest ever built. This mighty ship was used during WWII, the Korean Conflict and the GUlf War. You will discover why the USS Wisconsin is truly one of the most unique battleships in the world.
Afterwards you have reserved seats for the annual Parade of Nations and a chance to visit NATO Fest with lunch on your own at the Waterside Pavilion.
Your afternoon’s highlight is the Virginia International Tattoo Performance where you will have reserved seats. This Tattoo – long regarded as the most patriotic of the world’s great tattoos – thrills audiences year after year with an awe-inspiring spectacle of music and might. It’s a spectacle of military splendor – part parade and part theater and sometimes part circus. The Tattoo features regimental bands and drill teams, drums and pipes, mass bugle ensembles and fireworks.
Following this show you return to your Virginia Beach hotel for a free evening on the beach and boardwalk.
Day 3 – MacArthur Memorial – Farewell Luncheon with Live Tattoo Performers
Following breakfast is hotel check-out. Then a visit to the MacArthur Memorial, a museum dedicated to Army General Douglas MacArthur and the millions of men and women who served with him in WWII and the Korean War.
Then just before leaving you a part of an Exclusive, Private Farewell Luncheon with Live Performances by the stars of the Military Tattoo Show you witnessed yesterday. (B,L)
